Forgetting the Real Essence behind Halloween

September 1st, 2010 by TheHowler

Are you aware that Halloween is fast approaching? Now, if we look at the traditional meaning of Halloween we gain an understanding as to why the costumes we show off every October 31 should be scary. This Celtic pagan practice started over 2000 years ago when the year consisted of just two seasons, the ominous winter months and the bright summer months.
During this time mystic beings could pass from the other world to ours. This doomed that ancestors could come back, but it also inevitable that evil ones could likewise return. As a result, people would dress up in creepy masks and costumes in order to imitate the bad souls in the hope that they would be left alone. Consequently by dressing up today, people are enduring the customs of long ago.

Unluckily, in recent times people simply see the pagan ritual as a means to dress up in any outfit they desire. The conformist disguises of skeletons, ghouls, witches, ghosts, vampires and devils, while still being worn by some have been replaced with Disney characters, favorite superheroes, aliens, celebrities, nun, leaders of nations, movie or television characters and even sports stars. While some of these may be frightening, the exact meaning behind Halloween has become lost.
People forget the real essence of Halloween, as they dress up nowadays with sexy costumes unlike before. Despite the fact that some are not aware that they are changing the mystic practice of Halloween, still in celebrating Halloween what more important is to have fun. This is the time that you can be anything as you wished. You can replicate your favorite character or celebrity as a lot of people are wearing the same thing.
When we talk about Halloween, although it refers as scary season, still we can have fun out of the parties that you are about to attend. So enjoy celebrating Halloween and transform yourself according to your favorite character. Go out, dress up accordingly to your taste and prove to the crowd that you can stand out among others because you are wearing the best costume in town.
